About Us

Mummas and Beans was launched in 2012 when Nicky Woodhatch opened the dedicated cafe and studio in Queen Street Godalming. Sadly this closed in 2014, but the legacy of antenatal and baby classes lives on, with classes running in Godalming, Guildford and Haslemere.

Nicky saw the need for really good quality antenatal education, one that was without bias or prejudice that was without judgement that delivered education in a way that was informative and down to earth, and didn’t involve role play or ice breaking games. Couples need a platform to make friends but they also need a good understanding of the birth process, leading to parents feeling empowered when they entered the birthing environment.

Nicky also believes in continuity of care, rarely do mums see the same midwife through pregnancy, Nicky and her team have been a constant in many a parenting journey, friendships have been made with many mums starting classes at 20wks pregnant, and following through to baby classes, leaving when little one is nearing one or even longer in some cases!

Claire our Midwife came on board in 2014 and Steph, Caroline & Kate came on board in 2015, all  of them are passionate about birth and helping mums postnatally. Once you sign up to a class with Mummas and Beans, you will enter a world of support, continuity of care and a great platform to meet other mums. We run Facebook groups, coffee mornings as well as our hugely popular Baby Massage and Yoga classes!

Our Mums Say:

"Nicky's laid back, friendly and supportive approach is a huge relief during the early days of being a new parent. The calming techniques she taught me were an absolute lifesaver and I honestly don't know what we'd have done without her. Thank you so much Nicky!"

"I just thought I'd add, that I've really enjoyed the Daisy Birthing sessions, I think they are utterly brilliant, and have definitely prepared me for the impending birth - dare I say I'm actually looking forward to it??!?"

"These classes were the favourite part of my week from birthing right through to rising one. I will be back with baba number two!"

"I want to say a huge thank you to you for adding so much to my maternity leave. Through Daisy Birthing I've made friends who have been a huge support to both me and Cleo and will continue to be a big part of our lives. I hope you know what a community of happy and confident Mums you're developing through Mummas. Thank you."
